After the firmware updated, the HomeKit option existed and TV generated a HomeKit code and all connected easily.

After connecting TV to home wi-fi and turning TV off/on, pop-up asked if I wanted to update the firmware. TV will need a firmware update before HomeKit options will show up in the setup menu. I'm still a novice with the TV, please post if you have suggestions and additional information that may help others. I did not do a lot of research as the purchase options for the above sought features were limited, so bought and hoped for the best. Currently, the garage has these HomeKit enabled products: eero Pro mesh wi-fi, 3 WeMo switches, Liftmaster wi-fi garage door opener, iDevices thermostat connected to a very old but refurbished Reznor natural gas heater, plus one HomePod installed and a second for stereo pairing in hand.
Scenario: Putting in a Home Gym in a heated garage and adding Audio/Video for the gym. I wish apple came out with an appletv stick version. I have a device (2 actually, a sender and receiver, both are slightly larger than the stick+ ) that allows me to cast from one device to the other (connected to the tv). The stick+ would be a great solution, if it worked, but I gather it will not.
Because of travel, weight and size are major factors. Ideally I want a set up to play videos on the tv in a hotel room from my iPhone. So most media I consume resides on my iPhone or iPad. Terrible wifi, worse internet connectivity and speed. I travel a lot for work to some very remote locations. I suspect the problem I have is a little unusual and probably deserves a separate post. I hope it’s just an early glitch that will be fixed in an upcoming update but I would like to know if others have the same problem.Įdit: Thanks for the suggestions. They also play fine when the iPhone and iPad are connected directly to the tv hdmi port. These same videos work fine on my 2nd gen appletv. But when I try to play a tv show that is on my phone (mp4) directly from the phone (transferred from my computer to my iphone and iPad) I get an error message that says “This video is in a format that can’t be streamed to this TV.” Screen mirroring also works fine until I start playing these shows. All three can connect to my iphone (and iPad) and airplay 2 works when using something like photos or hbo+ or amazon. All are installed and updated and working fine. I purchased three new roku devices for their ability to airplay from my phone to my tv.
